Job Description

IT Operations Project Manager

This is an estimated 6 month contingent-to-hire position in Tacoma, WA and is offered through Volt Workforce Solutions. We are among the largest staffing companies in the US for contingent/temporary and direct hire placements, and support many of the top rated Pacific Northwest companies.

You will have overall responsibility to provide project leadership for the IT Operations department within the IT organization. The projects are of varying sizes; some will be fully within the IT Operations discipline, others will encompass the IT Operations component of Brand or Enterprise sponsored projects and programs. The mix of projects will be prioritized and designated by the VP of IT Operations.

What you’ll do

  • Organize and manage IT Operations projects and the IT Operations workstreams related to Brand/Enterprise projects and programs.

  • Lead teams to establish project tasks, delivery schedule and resources required for successful delivery on time and within budget.

  • Manage related technical operations activities including metrics for project and support time, development of support processes, estimating requirements for technical upgrades, issues/defect tracking, and change control.

  • Align Operations tasks to meet Program milestones to ensure project or program objectives are met in a timely manner.

  • Organize, lead and collaborate with team members, manage IT Ops component of project communications to leadership across the organization and all brands.

  • Contribute to feasibility studies and time and cost estimates in order to aid in decision making on project viability and prioritization. Includes business planning and input into cost benefit analysis.

  • Support and participate in the Project Intake process for IT Operations and provide schedule, tasks and financial inputs to the Project Prioritization process across the IT department.

  • Participate in developing and documenting best practices and methodology around Project Management.

What you bring to the table

  • At least 10 years of IT project management experience; 5 years’ experience leading IT Operations (infrastructure) projects; cloud-based and on premise.

  • Experience managing a program comprised of multiple projects and project resources.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, business administration; or equivalent combination of education and project management work experience.

  • Experience leading teams and managing work of others: internal, external/vendor partners, and outsourced resources.

  • Experience with multiple types of project life cycles: agile or waterfall projects.

  • Experience leading teams responsible for testing, change control, establishing new and build-out of technology infrastructure (cloud-based and on premise).

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills; ability to effectively share key project information with all levels of the organization.

  • Experience with internally developed and 3rd party/SaaS applications/systems.

  • Business process design and redesign experience helpful.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Visio, MS Project, SharePoint, or related tools).

  • PMP Certification a plus.
