Join our team as a Stress Engineering Manager. You’ll have the power to turn curiosity into innovation by providing leadership for the Stress Engineering group within Greenpoints Engineering Department supporting on-going and future Greenpoint programs.
The responsibilities of this role are:
Leads a team of up to 20 Stress Engineers and organizes them to substantiate aircraft designs and generate substantiation documents that will be acceptable to the FAA.
Sets the quality standard for the Greenpoint Stress Engineering department and puts standards and check processes in place to make sure that standards are achieved.
Conducts 1:1 discussions, annual performance reviews and mid-year reviews and salary adjustments.
Coaches, trains and mentors a team of Stress Engineers to keep all team members working efficiently and develop analytical tools, data bases, work flow procedures aimed at streamlining and optimizing project support.
Manages multiple priorities and competing tasks while making decisions as to priority of tasks and assignment of team members.
Works closely and constructively with other departments within Greenpoint Technologies to gain consensus on the best plan of attack on each engineering issue requiring stress input.
Communicates clearly with the engineering team, other Greenpoint departments and vendors as required to facilitate smooth substantiation of Greenpoint designs.
Prepares meeting materials and present status of program structural substantiation required to keep all parties informed of progress, gain team consensus and progress the structural substantiation package to completion.
Creates structural substantiation plans, prepare staffing plans, anticipate critical path issues and set a schedule to meet program schedules and budgets.
Works closely with other Greenpoint departments to gain consensus on the best plan of attack on each engineering issue.
Assists with bids and estimations of costs for new programs.
Ensures budgets and schedules are met.
Assists in recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating staff.
Makes recommendations, initiates promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.
- Target qualifications for this role are:
BS degree in Civil, Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering; minimum of 10 years’ experience in Aerospace Structural Analysis and Testing; minimum of 5 years’ experience in Technical Management role; or equivalent combination of education and experience. FAA delegation in Structures is desirable.
Employees working on programs subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations must qualify as a US Person which is defined as a US Citizen, a Permanent Resident who does not work for a foreign company/foreign government/foreign governmental agency or organization, or a political asylee for legal compliance purposes.

Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.Experience with a variety of CAD systems required, AutoCAD preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
Working knowledge 14 CFR Part 25 Regulations as it pertains to Aircraft Structures, Interiors, Materials, Mechanical Systems and Payload Systems.
Working knowledge of industry accepted Finite Element Program, NASTRAN.
Working knowledge of classical hand analysis of aircraft structural components and assemblies.
Working knowledge of accepted design practices and solutions in Aircraft Industry.
Thorough knowledge of aircraft electrical systems, drawing development and FAA requirements.
Ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
