Overview: Under general supervision, assists the OR/POH/PACU (Operating Room/Pre-operative Holding/Post Anesthesia Care Unit) registered nursing staff with the provision of professional nursing care to all patients in accordance with the established standards of care. Supports The Everett Clinic mission and values, service standards and policies and procedures.

Schedule: Temporary non-benefited assignment, full-time, 40 hrs/week, Monday - Friday, 8 hour shifts.

The first two weeks of training require full time Monday thru Friday, 8am - 5pm. This is not optional. Please ensure you available to attend training before applying to this position.

Essential Functions:

  • Set up of OR suites for first cases of the day- this may include initial wipe down of OR suites, moving equipment and case cart(s) into OR suites, placing instrument trays onto appropriate tables, turning on equipment.

  • Assist with OR room turnover throughout day- this may include cleaning, obtaining instruments and supplies as needed, and moving equipment as needed.

  • Set up and clean-up of POH chairs, Phase 1 beds and Phase 2 beds and stretchers throughout day.

  • Linen management- condensing of linen carts in back hallway, distribution of linen at beginning of day, maintaining linen stock throughout day, ordering linen on daily basis, emptying of used linen as needed throughout day.

  • Supply management- this includes maintaining appropriate inventory levels by ordering and unloading of supplies. Includes but not limited to- fluids in core and in warmers, scrub sinks, staff lounge, staff locker rooms (male and female), and patient changing rooms.

  • Equipment management- maintains orderly and clean appearance for all equipment- this includes equipment in back hallways, storage areas and patient care areas. Maintain equipment checklists- warmers, coolers and O2 tanks. Transfer of stretchers and chairs to areas of need throughout the day to meet patient needs.

  • Patient Care- at the direction of the nursing staff, anesthesia staff or providers assist with the transfer of patients between stretchers and OR beds and help with proper positioning of patients in the OR suite. Upon discharge may help transport patients to their cars. May help bring patient’s family members back to the recovery area at the direction of the nursing staff.

  • Serve as a runner as needed- this could include transporting specimens to the lab (TEC and Providence), delivery and pick up of instruments/supplies between Kemp and Trask and other miscellaneous errands that are needed for patient care.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: Prefer experience working in a patient care area

Certificate/License: Valid Washington State driver’s license; current BLS certification required.
