Whidbey General Hospital Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner in Coupeville, Washington
POSITION SUMMARY An RN trained in the SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) education program who will perform the forensic examination and collection of evidence for a victim of sexual assault presenting to WhidbeyHealth. They will follow the detailed examination and collection as outlined in the WhidbeyHealth Sexual Assaults/SANE Examination policy. They will exhibit compassion and collaboration with CADA (Citizens Against Domestic and Sexual Abuse) and the Emergency Department to coordinate the physical, emotional, forensic and treatment needs of the patient. They will coordinate with law enforcement based on the patient’s choice for release of evidence for the prosecution of the assailant and maintain confidentiality of the patient’s records. The SANE nurse will be managed by the WHFBP manager as a part of the SANE nurse group.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE RN at least ADN required. Current Washington State Registered Nurse License. Certification preferred. BLS required. Minimum 2 years recent RN experience with training from the SANE education program. Familiar with Washington State Nurse Practice Act.
